Description

The Plec is a 52cm diameter pendant light built around a gold wire cage that surrounds a frosted glass diffuser. The cage is formed from thin metal ribs that radiate from a central collar at the top and converge at the base, creating an oblate spheroid shape — wider than it is tall. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the frosted glass dome, which diffuses the light evenly through the wire structure and softens the shadows cast by the ribs.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and living room zones where ambient and decorative lighting are both needed, the Plec hangs on a black fabric-covered cable adjustable between 30cm and 177cm drop. The minimum 30cm drop suits lower ceilings or positions where the pendant needs to sit closer to the ceiling plane, while the maximum 177cm allows the light to be suspended 70-80cm above a dining surface in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The gold finish canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses.

The wire cage is finished in a warm gold tone that reads as aged brass rather than bright yellow gold, pairing well with warm neutrals, timber furniture and contemporary interiors that lean into soft metallics. The frosted glass inside the cage prevents glare when the bulb is viewed from below and turns the entire shade into a diffused light source rather than a point source. The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for dining and living spaces. The frosted glass diffuses the light, so filament-style decorative bulbs lose some visual impact inside this shade.

Is the height adjustable after installation?

The cable is adjustable during installation between 30cm and 177cm drop. Once fitted and the excess cable is trimmed and concealed in the canopy, further adjustment requires partial disassembly at the ceiling rose.

What size dining table does it suit?

The 52cm diameter works well over rectangular tables up to 180cm long or round tables up to 120cm diameter. For longer tables, consider positioning two Plec pendants in a row or pairing with additional lighting.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means the Plec is suitable for dry indoor spaces only. It is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use where moisture is present.
