Description

The Plato is a 185mm diameter pendant light built around a circular aluminium housing finished in matt black, with a frosted glass diffuser on the underside. An integrated 12W LED inside the housing casts 3000K warm white light downwards through the diffuser at a 120° beam angle, providing focused but glare-free illumination below.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and breakfast bars where directed downlight is needed without harsh shadows, the Plato's height is adjustable on installation between 35cm and 195cm from the ceiling rose to the bottom of the fixture. The frosted diffuser softens the LED output, turning the pendant into a functional task light rather than purely decorative accent lighting. The cylindrical matt black canopy conceals the cable run and fits standard UK ceiling roses.

The aluminium construction gives the pendant a 21.5cm overall height when measured from the top of the canopy to the bottom of the diffuser, with the circular shade itself adding 185mm of visual width. The matt black finish on the aluminium absorbs rather than reflects ambient light, making the pendant recede visually when switched off and allowing the warm glow of the diffuser to define the fixture when lit. The IP20 rating limits the Plato to dry indoor environments — living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways above 2.4m ceiling height.

Is the Plato dimmable?

The integrated 12W LED runs on mains voltage AC 220-240V. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model — please contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm.

How is the height adjusted?

The cable length allows the pendant to hang between 35cm and 195cm from the ceiling rose to the bottom of the fixture. Height is set during installation by adjusting the cable within the canopy. Once installed, the height cannot be changed without re-accessing the ceiling rose.

What diameter table does it suit?

The 185mm diameter and 120° beam angle provide focused downlight over an area approximately 60-80cm wide when hung 70-80cm above a dining table or kitchen island. For larger tables, multiple Plato pendants can be installed in a row.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Plato to dry indoor environments only. It cannot be installed in bathrooms, kitchens directly above hobs or sinks, or any location where moisture or steam is present.
