Photonix Small Outdoor Pedestal Light - Brown

The Photonix Small is a 750mm outdoor pedestal light with an extruded aluminium column finished in coffee brown powder coating and topped with a matt white plastic diffuser. The single E27 socket sits inside the diffuser, which spreads light evenly across paths, patios and low garden borders. IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction.

Designed for residential pathways, patio edges and around outdoor seating areas, the Photonix pedestal provides functional path lighting and ambient garden accent light. The 750mm height positions the light source above typical herbaceous planting and low shrubs without blocking sightlines across a garden. The circular base of 135mm diameter fixes to concrete, paving slabs or compacted gravel using the pre-drilled mounting points underneath.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in wet coastal and inland UK climates, while the powder coating finish gives additional weather resistance and UV stability. The brown tone blends with timber decking, corten steel planters and natural stone paving without the glare of polished metal finishes. The diffuser is removable for bulb changes and accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the rated wattage (bulb sold separately). The fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible dimmable bulbs and dimmer switches.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects over 1mm in size and water splashes from any direction. This makes the Photonix suitable for exposed garden positions, patios and pathways where it will encounter rain and occasional hosing during garden maintenance. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas subject to pooling water or direct jet washing.

What bulb does it take?

The Photonix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair outdoor pedestal lights with warm white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K for ambient garden lighting, or daylight-toned LEDs at 4000K-5000K for functional path lighting where visibility matters.

How is it installed?

The circular base has pre-drilled mounting points for fixing to concrete, paving slabs or compacted gravel using appropriate outdoor fixings. Mains electrical connection must be completed by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK wiring regulations. The diffuser unscrews from the top for bulb access once installed.

Can it be used in coastal locations?

Yes. The extruded aluminium frame with powder coating resists corrosion in coastal environments where salt spray is present. Regular rinsing with fresh water during cleaning will extend the finish life in particularly exposed seaside gardens.
