Description

The Phostis is a 4-light wall or semi-flush ceiling fitting comprising a matt black metal bar 860mm long with four white blown glass spheres mounted beneath. Each sphere houses a G9 bulb (sold separately), providing a combined light output suitable for illuminating hallways, bathrooms (zones beyond the immediate shower area), and living rooms with low or standard ceiling heights. The fitting projects 120mm from the wall or ceiling surface once installed.

Designed to mount horizontally on either walls or ceilings, the Phostis adapts to narrow hallways where a single pendant would crowd the space, or bathroom walls where overhead lighting is preferred to recessed downlights. The four individual G9 bulbs allow for balanced light distribution across the length of the fitting. Dimmable when paired with suitable G9 LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch, enabling control from bright task lighting to softer ambient levels. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas only.

The blown glass spheres diffuse the light from the G9 bulbs, reducing glare and creating a softer glow across walls and ceilings. Each sphere is secured by a screw fixing visible at the base, which also allows individual spheres to be removed for bulb replacement without dismounting the entire fitting. The matt black finish on the metal bar reduces reflections and pairs well with monochrome, industrial and contemporary interiors. The 860mm length suits hallways and bathrooms typically 900mm-1200mm wide, or above vanity units and mirrors in larger bathrooms.

The fitting takes four G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 3-4W LED G9 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bathroom and hallway use. Total wattage across all four bulbs should not exceed the maximum stated in the fitting instructions.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and connected to a compatible LED dimmer switch. Standard G9 halogen bulbs are also dimmable, but LED is more energy-efficient and produces less heat.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the Phostis is suitable for dry indoor areas only. In bathrooms it must be installed in zones outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure, typically zone 2 or beyond (600mm+ from a water source). It cannot be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower cubicle.

How is it mounted?

The metal bar fixes to a wall or ceiling using concealed screws. For ceiling mounting in plasterboard, use appropriate fixings rated for the weight of the fitting. For wall mounting, the bar can be positioned horizontally above mirrors, vanity units or along hallway walls. The cable entry point is at one end of the bar.
