Phosix Trimless LED Recessed Downlight - 6W 4000K Black

The Phosix is a twin-aperture recessed LED downlight with a trimless black finish, designed to sit flush within plasterboard ceilings so that only the two reflector bowls remain visible once installed. Each aperture houses a 3W 4000K LED module (6W total output), casting neutral white light downward from a glossy black polycarbonate reflector. The rectangular housing measures 170mm wide by 70mm deep, with a projection of 71mm from the ceiling surface once the plaster line has been cut and finished around the frame.

Designed for residential and commercial spaces where a minimal ceiling treatment is required, the Phosix suits hallways, kitchens, bathrooms (dry zones only — IP20), offices and retail interiors. The trimless installation method requires the ceiling plaster to be finished directly to the edge of the aluminium frame, removing the visible bezel or trim ring typical of standard downlights. This gives a cleaner ceiling plane but requires careful plastering and finishing during installation.

The die-cast aluminium housing provides structural rigidity and heat dissipation for the integrated LED modules. The black finish on both the frame and reflectors gives a discrete presence in dark-painted or graphite-toned ceilings, while the neutral 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white (2700K-3000K) and cool white (5000K+), making it adaptable to contemporary interiors where neither warmth nor coolness is specifically required. The twin-aperture configuration provides wider spread than a single downlight, reducing the number of fittings needed to illuminate a given area.

What does trimless installation mean?

Trimless installation means the ceiling plaster is finished directly to the edge of the aluminium frame, so no visible trim ring or bezel appears once the ceiling is painted. This requires careful plastering and cutting around the downlight during installation, but results in a cleaner ceiling appearance with only the black reflector bowls visible.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating makes it suitable only for dry zones within bathrooms (typically Zone 3, areas more than 0.6m from a bath or shower). It is not rated for use directly above baths, within shower enclosures, or in areas subject to direct water spray.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED modules are integrated into the housing and are not user-replaceable. The 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux covers LED failure within the warranty period.

What colour is 4000K light?

4000K is neutral white, sitting between warm white (2700K-3000K, which has a yellow tone) and cool white (5000K+, which has a blue tone). It provides clear, bright illumination without the warmth of traditional tungsten or the clinical coolness of daylight-spectrum lighting.
