Description

The Philadelphia is a 540mm outdoor pedestal light with a cast aluminium body finished in an old bronze patina and a champagne-tinted blown glass panel. The single E27 fitting inside (bulb sold separately) casts light through the textured glass, softening the output for ambient path or entrance lighting. The old bronze finish shows deliberate copper undertones and surface variation that mimic aged metal.

Designed for mounting on gate posts, low brick walls, deck corners and driveway pillars, the Philadelphia sits on a fluted pedestal base with a square footprint of 190mm. The IP44 rating protects against rain splash and moisture ingress, making it suitable for exposed positions in UK gardens. The cast body and toughened glass construction withstand wind loading and temperature changes without warping or cracking.

The decorative detailing includes raised scroll panels, fluted columns and a flame-style finial at the top, referencing early 20th-century street lanterns and estate lighting. The champagne glass softens LED bulbs that would otherwise appear too stark in a traditional lantern, while still allowing warm filament bulbs to glow clearly. What IP rating does it carry?

IP44. The fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed garden positions, gate posts and driveway pillars in the UK.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional styling.

How is it mounted?

The pedestal sits on a 190mm square base, typically surface-mounted to the top of a gate post, brick pier or deck corner with fixing bolts. The cable entry point is in the underside of the base. Installation should be completed by a qualified electrician.

Can the glass panel be replaced if damaged?

Yes. The champagne blown glass panel is held in place by the cast frame and can be removed for replacement. Contact Elstead Lighting or Niori for replacement glass parts if needed.
