Description

The Pauline is an 82mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a white powder-coated aluminium cylinder and an acrylic diffuser at the base. The fitting takes a single GX53 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 15W and carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 as well as general indoor use.

Designed for areas where recessing into the ceiling is not possible or preferred, the Pauline mounts directly to the ceiling surface with a 70mm projection. The compact footprint suits hallways, bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, and low-ceiling rooms where a traditional recessed downlight would require cutting into joists or reduce headroom. Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Pauline suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 60cm from a bath or basin). It is not rated for use inside a shower cubicle or directly above a bath.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a GX53 disc-style bulb up to 15W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GX53 between 7-11W and 2700K-3000K for general ambient lighting.

Does it need to be recessed into the ceiling?

No. The Pauline is a surface-mounted downlight that fixes directly to the ceiling surface without cutting into joists or plasterboard. The 70mm projection from the ceiling makes it suitable for installations where recessing is not possible.
