Description

The Orlix is a 50cm diameter pendant light with a shallow drum profile, combining a white painted metal frame with a blown glass diffuser. Three E27 bulb holders sit inside the drum, facing upwards into the diffuser, which spreads the light evenly across the disc and outwards into the room. The pendant hangs on three steel cables with automatic stoppers, allowing the drop to be adjusted during installation.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and living room zones where soft overhead light is needed without harsh downward glare, the Orlix sits 600-900mm above a surface depending on ceiling height. The 50cm diameter suits tables up to 1.8m long or kitchen islands up to 2m, providing enough coverage to light the area without overwhelming it. The shallow 145mm depth works in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings without feeling too close to heads.

The blown glass diffuser sits beneath the metal rim, creating a smooth white disc when lit that hides the bulbs from view at normal eye level. The white painted finish on the metal frame pairs cleanly with white or light-toned ceilings, and the IP20 rating suits dry interior spaces. The three E27 sockets accept LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving control over light temperature and brightness.

The Orlix takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for dining and living areas.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the pendant is dimmable when fitted with dimmable bulbs and paired with a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb chosen.

How is the cable length adjusted?

The three steel cables have automatic cable stoppers that allow the drop to be set during installation. Pull the cables through to shorten the drop, or release the stoppers to lengthen it. Once set, the stoppers hold the cables in position.

What size table does it suit?

The 50cm diameter suits dining tables up to 1.8m long or kitchen islands up to 2m. For larger tables or islands, consider pairing two Orlix pendants in a row or choosing a larger pendant diameter from the Ideal Lux range.
