Description
Our One More Look Oak Mirror brings together solid oak, MDF, glass, steel with a plated brass finish and artificial leather in one considered piece. The tall rounded-rectangle glass sits without a visible frame, giving a clean face that reflects light and opens up a room. Beneath it runs a slim shelf built from that solid oak, and a small box rests on the shelf beside the mirror, ready to hold the small things that usually go missing. We chose these materials because they hold up to daily use while keeping the look quiet and honest.
The wood here is oak in a Nuance Olive colour, a soft muted green that we find works well against both pale and darker walls. It reads as calm rather than loud, which is why we like it in a hallway by the front door, in a bedroom for the morning check, or above a console where a table lamp base can catch in the reflection. At 118cm tall and 78cm wide, with a depth of 15cm, it gives a generous view without dominating the space. The shelf takes a maximum load of 10kg, and that figure applies when the weight is spread evenly across the surface, so keep heavier items balanced rather than stacked to one side.
The whole piece weighs 11kg and asks for around 45 minutes to put together, so we suggest setting aside a quiet half hour or so with a second pair of hands for the fixing. Once it is up, there is little to think about beyond an occasional wipe of the glass and a dust of the oak shelf. This mirror is one we return to time and again for its balance of practical shelf and honest material. It is one of our steady favourites.
