Description
The Norfolk is a 450mm upward-facing outdoor wall light with a hand-leaded glass lantern and a black die-cast aluminium frame. The lantern comprises five separate bevelled glass panels set into a lead framework, mounted within a traditional coach-style casing with a domed top and decorative finial. An E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the lantern, casting light upwards and outwards through the leaded glass.
Designed for front doors, porch entrances, pathways and courtyard walls, the Norfolk is IP44-rated for outdoor use and withstands rain, wind and dust ingress. The upward-facing orientation directs light onto the wall surface above the fitting, creating reflected ambient illumination rather than direct downward glare. The 260mm projection from the wall and scrolled mounting bracket give the fitting presence on rendered, brick or painted masonry surfaces.
The hand-leaded glass construction uses five bevelled panels soldered into a lead framework, giving each lantern a slightly different pattern of solder lines depending on the individual assembly. The black powder-coated aluminium frame resists corrosion in coastal and urban environments and pairs with traditional, Victorian and Arts & Crafts-style exteriors. The lantern glass diffuses the light source evenly, reducing harsh shadows on pathways and entrance steps.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and against splashing water from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered porches, wall-mounted positions under eaves, and exposed exterior walls, but not for locations where the fitting would be directly submerged or subjected to high-pressure water jets.
What bulb does the Norfolk take?
The Norfolk takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional appearance, or a vintage-style filament LED for decorative effect visible through the leaded glass.
How is the leaded glass constructed?
Each lantern uses five separate bevelled glass panels soldered into a lead framework by hand. The solder lines and lead framework pattern vary slightly between individual lanterns depending on assembly, making each fitting unique.
Can it be fitted to any wall type?
The Norfolk mounts to brick, rendered masonry, timber cladding or painted blockwork using the backplate. The electrical connection requires access to mains wiring — outdoor wall lights should be installed by a qualified electrician to ensure IP rating integrity and safe earth bonding.
