Description

The Nocturne is a 40W constant voltage LED driver that converts mains 230V AC to a stable 24V DC output, designed to power LED strip lighting, LED panel lights and other 24V LED installations up to 40W total load. The driver measures 150mm long by 45mm deep and houses the transformer, rectifier and protection circuitry inside a white plastic enclosure rated IP20 for indoor use.

Intended for recessed installation inside ceiling voids, under-cabinet cavities or behind LED panel frames, the Nocturne suits residential and commercial LED strip runs up to approximately 5 metres (depending on strip wattage per metre). The 150mm input and output cable tails allow for direct hard-wiring to mains supply and LED load without requiring additional terminal blocks in most installations. The driver is non-dimmable and intended for fixed-output applications.

The plastic housing provides Class II insulation and protection against short circuit, overload and over-temperature conditions. Internal thermal cut-out stops the driver if the enclosure temperature exceeds safe operating limits, protecting both the driver and the connected LED load. The compact 150mm x 45mm footprint fits into shallow ceiling voids and narrow under-cabinet spaces where larger metal-cased drivers cannot be accommodated.

What length of LED strip can this driver power?

The 40W output capacity supports approximately 5 metres of typical 8W per metre LED strip, or up to 8 metres of lower-power 5W per metre strip. Calculate total strip wattage and ensure it does not exceed 40W. Running the driver below maximum capacity extends service life.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The Nocturne is a non-dimmable constant voltage driver intended for fixed-output installations. If dimming is required, choose a PWM or 0-10V dimmable driver model instead.

Where should it be installed?

The IP20 rating limits the Nocturne to dry indoor locations only. Install in a well-ventilated cavity (ceiling void, under-cabinet space, behind panel frame) where the unit cannot be touched during operation and air can circulate to prevent heat build-up. Do not install in enclosed junction boxes without ventilation.

Does it need to be hard-wired or can it plug in?

The driver has 150mm cable tails on both input and output sides and is designed for hard-wired installation by a qualified electrician. There is no plug fitted. Ensure mains supply is isolated before wiring.
