Description

The Nimbus is a 16-light suspension fitting from Ideal Lux with integrated LEDs housed in satin acrylic spheres that hang from a brass-plated central rosette on individual adjustable cables. Each of the sixteen diffusers contains a 1W LED module set to 3000K warm white, providing a combined 16W output distributed across the cable spread. The cables run through aluminium ceiling supports fixed to the ceiling at intervals, allowing the individual drops to be set at different heights and arranged to suit the room width and ceiling height.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and open-plan living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.6m or higher, the Nimbus works as both ambient and statement lighting. The 5190mm maximum cable length on each drop gives flexibility to create cascading arrangements over long tables or stepped configurations in double-height spaces. The central rosette measures 200mm diameter and requires a single ceiling point for mains connection, with the individual cables spreading outward to the ceiling support points. Installation typically requires multiple ceiling fixings across a 3-4m spread to anchor the aluminium supports.

The brass plating on the rosette provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with both contemporary neutral interiors and warmer traditional schemes. The satin acrylic diffusers scatter the LED light evenly without glare, turning each sphere into a soft glowing point rather than a focused bulb. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations. The integrated LEDs are not replaceable, but Ideal Lux backs the fitting with a 5-year warranty covering the LED modules and driver.

Yes. Each of the sixteen cables can be set to a different drop length during installation, allowing you to create cascading or stepped arrangements to suit the room layout. The aluminium ceiling supports anchor the cables at ceiling level and allow adjustment before being locked in place.

Is the Nimbus dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimmer compatibility. The fitting operates at full brightness when switched on.

What happens when the LEDs reach end of life?

The LEDs are integrated into the diffuser modules and are not user-replaceable. Ideal Lux provides a 5-year warranty covering the LED modules and driver. After the warranty period, individual modules can be replaced through Ideal Lux service channels if required.

What ceiling height is needed?

With a maximum cable length of 5190mm per drop, the Nimbus is best suited to rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the fitting if the cables are shortened during installation, but the visual impact of the cascading arrangement is reduced.
