Description
The Newbury is a 356mm outdoor wall lantern built around a six-panel bevelled glass cage set in a lacquered aged copper frame. The lantern takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) inside the glass enclosure, which protects the light source from weather while allowing 360-degree light output through the clear panels. The frame is finished in aged copper that's been lacquered to slow oxidation and maintain the warm reddish-bronze tone.
Designed for porches, patios, front entrances and garden walls, the Newbury carries an IP44 rating for protection against rain and moisture. The 198mm projection from the wall gives the lantern enough clearance to sit proud of a typical external wall finish without interfering with door swings or pathways. The curved shepherd's-crook arm at the top suspends the lantern body on a ring, creating a traditional carriage-lamp silhouette that suits colonial, Georgian and Arts and Crafts architecture.
The lacquered aged copper finish presents as a brushed bronze with darker tonal variation in the recesses of the metalwork, mimicking the patina that develops on untreated copper over time without the oxidation process itself. The clear bevelled glass is set into metal frames at each panel edge, providing structural support and framing the light output. The back plate measures 203mm wide and mounts to standard UK fixing points on masonry or timber-framed walls.
Quoizel manufactures the Newbury range in the USA and distributes the collection through authorised retailers. The lacquered finish requires no special maintenance beyond occasional cleaning with a damp cloth to remove dust and pollen.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Newbury takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-8W and 2700K for a traditional appearance that matches the aged copper finish.
Is it weatherproof?
The lantern carries an IP44 rating, protecting against rain and moisture when installed under an overhang or porch roof. It is not designed for fully exposed positions where driving rain or pooling water would reach the fitting directly.
Will the copper patina or tarnish?
The aged copper finish is lacquered to slow oxidation and maintain the warm bronze tone. Unlike bare copper which would develop a green verdigris patina over time, the lacquered finish stays stable. If the lacquer is scratched or damaged, localised patina may develop in those areas.
What fixing points are needed?
The back plate is 203mm wide and pre-drilled for two fixing points. The lantern weighs approximately 1.5kg and should be mounted to masonry with wall plugs and screws, or to timber-framed walls using wood screws into a solid bearer.
