The Quoizel Newbury is a 203mm-wide outdoor chain pendant with a polished brass frame and clear bevelled glass panels enclosing a single E27 bulb fitting. The brass is lacquered to protect the polished finish from tarnishing in outdoor conditions, and the bevelled glass diffuses light while maintaining transparency. The pendant carries an IP23 rating, meaning it can handle dust and light rain spray but should be installed under a porch roof, veranda overhang or other covered position to keep it out of direct rainfall.

Designed for front doors, covered porches, verandas and garden room entrances, the Newbury sits on an adjustable chain with a 1200mm cable run, allowing the drop to be set between 410mm and 1570mm during installation. The 334mm height of the lantern itself plus the minimum 410mm drop gives a combined minimum ceiling-to-base measurement of approximately 744mm, which suits standard UK porch ceiling heights of 2.2m or above when hung 1400-1500mm above the threshold step. The polished brass finish pairs with both traditional painted facades and warm-toned brickwork.

The lantern body uses a classical American colonial profile with a curved lower glass section and tapered upper section capped by a decorative brass finial and hoop ring. The bevelled glass edges catch light at different angles depending on the time of day, adding detail without requiring additional ornamentation. The E27 fitting accepts any standard bulb up to 60W — most users pair this with a 6-8W warm-white LED filament bulb to mimic the look of a traditional gas lamp while keeping energy use low.

What does the IP23 rating mean?

IP23 means the pendant is protected against dust and light rain spray at angles up to 60° from vertical. It must be installed under a porch roof, veranda overhang or similar cover to keep it out of direct rainfall and heavy weather. It is not suitable for fully exposed positions.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2700K to replicate a traditional gas lamp appearance.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjustable on installation by shortening or lengthening the chain and cable run inside the canopy. Once installed and the canopy fixed to the ceiling, the height is set. Adjustment after that point requires removing the canopy and re-fitting.

Will the polished brass tarnish outdoors?

The brass is lacquered to slow tarnishing, but exposure to humidity and coastal salt air can eventually dull the finish. Wiping the brass with a soft dry cloth every few months helps maintain the shine. Re-lacquering can be done professionally if the finish degrades significantly over time.
