Description

The Nevill is a single-bulb conical pendant light with a 32cm tapered metal shade finished in matte black. The shade narrows from an 8cm diameter at the canopy to a tighter aperture at the base, where a recessed GU10 fitting sits inside the cone to direct light downward whilst reducing direct glare from the bulb itself.

Designed for kitchens, dining tables and office workstations where overhead task light is needed without ambient spill, the Nevill works as a single fitting over a small table or in clusters of three or five over kitchen islands and longer dining tables. The 32cm drop suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upward, with the shade positioned 600-900mm above worktops or dining surfaces depending on installation preference. The black cable conceals into the ceiling rose and the fitting accepts any GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to 40W (sold separately).

The matte black finish on the metal shade absorbs reflections and pairs comfortably with industrial, minimalist and contemporary interiors. The conical form concentrates light into a focused pool below the fitting rather than spreading it laterally, making the Nevill more suited to directional task lighting than general room illumination. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor spaces only.

The Nevill uses a standard GU10 bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED between 5-7W and 3000K-4000K for focused task lighting over worktops or dining tables.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The Nevill carries an IP20 rating, which restricts it to dry indoor spaces only. It cannot be installed in bathrooms, kitchens zones near water, or outdoor covered areas.

How many should I use over a kitchen island?

For a typical 1.5-2m kitchen island, three Nevill pendants spaced 500-600mm apart provide balanced task lighting. Longer islands may need five pendants to avoid dark spots between the fittings.

Is the light recessed to reduce glare?

Yes. The GU10 bulb sits recessed inside the cone, so direct line-of-sight to the filament or LED element is minimised when standing or sitting beneath the fitting. This reduces glare whilst maintaining a focused downward light pool.
