Description

This is the Mullion as a hanging wall lantern, the lantern slung below its bracket so the light goes down onto the step rather than up into the eaves. The Mullion is made only as a wall fitting, throwing up or down. It sits lower on the wall than the upward version and needs less headroom above it. The Mullion sits behind a clear polycarbonate lens that will not shatter. The powder paint is baked on rather than sprayed, so it keeps its colour against sun and salt instead of chalking off in a season or two.

A run of them keeps one form along an elevation, up over a door and down over a step. It fixes to masonry and the cable should enter from behind the backplate wherever the wall allows. Brought in from below, a cable invites water to run down the sheath into the housing, which is how most outdoor wall lights fail long before the fitting does. Wiring is work for a qualified electrician: it wants a terminal approved to EN 60998-2-1 or EN 60998-2-2 in a wiring box rated IP68, which is the manufacturer's own instruction.
