Description

The Memory is an hourglass-form pendant light combining white opal glass and polished gold glass in a vertical arrangement, suspended on a black flex cable from a matt black ceiling canopy. A single E14 bulb fitting sits between the two glass elements, casting light both up into the gold shade and down through the white opal diffuser.

Designed for dining tables, bedside positions and kitchen breakfast bars where a narrow-profile pendant is needed, the Memory's slender 8cm diameter keeps the fitting unobtrusive while the contrasting glass finishes add decorative interest. The 44.5-232cm adjustable drop suits ceiling heights from standard 2.4m rooms up to double-height spaces, with the cable length set during installation to place the pendant 70-90cm above a table surface or 40-50cm above a bedside.

The white opal glass diffuses the downward light to reduce glare, while the polished gold shade reflects warm light back onto the ceiling, creating both task and ambient lighting from a single source. The black metal canopy and cable provide visual contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings. The E14 fitting accepts candle-style LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness to suit the room.

The IP20 rating restricts the Memory to dry indoor locations only. The glass shades are removable for cleaning and bulb replacement by unscrewing the metal collars that hold each shade in place. Maytoni provides a 2-year warranty on this fitting.

What bulb does it take?

The Memory takes a single E14 candle-style bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining or bedroom lighting.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is only suitable for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, kitchens directly above sinks or hobs, or any outdoor or damp environment.

How is the drop length adjusted?

The flex cable is adjustable between 44.5cm and 232cm on installation. The excess cable is coiled inside the ceiling canopy once the desired drop length is set. This cannot be adjusted once the canopy is closed without re-opening the fitting.

How are the glass shades cleaned?

Both the white opal and gold glass shades are removable by unscrewing the metal collars that hold them in place. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid soaking the shades or using abrasive cleaners that might scratch the polished gold finish.
