Description

The Medstead is a 445mm black half lantern wall light with a built-in PIR motion sensor, cast metal body and clear glass panels on three sides. The E27 lampholder accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), typically paired with a vintage filament LED for warm decorative light on porches and pathways. The PIR sensor detects movement up to several metres away, triggering the light automatically for 30-90 seconds depending on the sensor settings.

Designed for front doors, side entrances, garage walls and covered patios, the Medstead carries an IP44 rating making it resistant to splashing water from any direction but not suitable for full immersion or direct hosing. The half lantern mounts flush to the wall with the back plate concealing the wiring entry, while the glass-fronted sections cast light forward and to the sides. The 140mm projection keeps the fitting clear of most door frames and allows the PIR sensor to read approaching movement without obstruction.

The cast metal body is finished in a textured black coating that hides minor scuffs and weathers well outdoors. The pagoda-style top with a pointed finial and the scrollwork detailing below the glass give the fitting a classical lantern silhouette that pairs with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian properties as well as contemporary builds seeking a traditional accent. The clear glass shows the bulb when lit, so filament-style LEDs or squirrel-cage incandescent bulbs are recommended where the fitting is viewed close-up.
