Description

The Mara is a single-arm wall light built around a curved polished chrome bracket that supports a black pleated fabric shade and houses an integrated rocker switch on the backplate. A single E14 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the shade, and a small glass accent hangs below the shade aperture on a chrome stem, catching and reflecting light when the fitting is switched on.

Designed for bedside reading positions, hallway accent lighting and bathroom zones where zone-rated fittings are not required, the Mara provides switched task and ambient light without needing separate wiring to a wall switch. The 200mm projection from the wall means the shade sits clear of the mounting surface, allowing the bulb to cast light downwards onto a bedside table or upwards onto the wall and ceiling. The rocker switch on the chrome backplate is positioned for easy access from a standing or seated position.

The black pleated shade is made from a ribbed textile that diffuses the bulb glow while maintaining opacity, so the light output is soft rather than harsh. The polished chrome finish on the arm and backplate provides high reflectivity, amplifying the light when the fitting is on and acting as a mirror surface when off. The glass accent below the shade is purely decorative — it adds visual weight to the lower edge of the fitting and catches ambient light from other sources in the room even when the Mara itself is switched off.

What bulb does it take?

The Mara takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulb at 2700K-3000K for bedside reading. Maximum wattage depends on the bulb type — check the Specification tab.

Is the integrated switch dimmable?

The rocker switch on the backplate is a simple on/off switch. To dim the light, you need a dimmable E14 bulb and a separate wall dimmer on the circuit feeding the wall light. The fitting itself does not include a dimmer control.

Where should it be positioned for bedside reading?

For reading in bed, mount the Mara 1200-1400mm above the floor (roughly level with the top of a headboard) and 300-400mm to the side of the pillow position. The 200mm projection brings the shade forward from the wall, directing light down onto the bed surface.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Mara carries no IP rating and is not designed for bathroom zones requiring splash protection. It can be used in a bathroom outside of the defined zones (typically more than 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure) where no water contact is expected.
