Description

The Luxix is a 42cm LED bathroom mirror light with an integrated 11W LED producing warm 3000K light behind a matt black metal housing. The light bar mounts horizontally above a mirror on a low-profile 45mm wall bracket, with the LED concealed behind a two-layer diffuser that combines clear and frosted acrylic to soften the beam without reducing output. The IP44 rating allows safe installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3.

Designed for over-mirror installation in bathrooms, en-suites and cloakrooms, the Luxix provides task lighting for grooming without harsh shadows. The 42cm length suits mirrors between 50-70cm wide, typically over a basin or vanity unit, though two Luxix bars can be mounted side-by-side for wider mirrors. The matt black finish pairs with black taps, towel rails and shower fittings in contemporary and industrial-styled bathrooms.

The integrated LED produces 880 lumens at 3000K, giving a warm white output similar to halogen without the heat buildup or energy draw. The metal housing is finished in a low-sheen matt black that resists fingerprints and water marks better than gloss finishes. The 45mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting close to the mirror surface, reducing the visual intrusion in smaller bathrooms where wall space is limited.

The two-layer diffuser spreads the light evenly along the 42cm length, avoiding the visible LED hotspots that cheaper mirror lights often produce. The acrylic outer layer is resistant to bathroom humidity and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The IP44 rating protects against splashing from a nearby basin or shower but does not allow installation directly in a shower enclosure (zone 1).

What bathroom zones can it be installed in?

The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, which covers positions above a basin or vanity unit and general bathroom wall areas outside the shower enclosure. It cannot be installed inside a shower enclosure (zone 1) or directly above a bath where it would be exposed to direct water jets.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 11W LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 30,000 hours of use, which at 3 hours per day would last over 25 years before needing replacement of the entire fitting.

What width mirror does it suit?

The 42cm length suits mirrors between 50-70cm wide when centred above. For wider mirrors, two Luxix bars can be mounted side-by-side with a 5-10cm gap between them to create an even spread of light across the full width.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The integrated LED is not dimmable and operates at full output when switched on. If dimming is required, the circuit would need a compatible LED dimmer installed, though Ideal Lux does not guarantee dimmer compatibility for this model.
