Description

The Luxeon Slim is a 2m magnetic track in white-finished aluminium, designed for surface mounting to ceilings or bulkheads. The track accepts magnetic spotlight fittings that clip into the channel and can be repositioned along its length without tools, allowing lighting layouts to be adjusted after installation as room use changes.

Designed for retail display areas, gallery walls, kitchen worktops and office task zones where lighting needs to follow changing layouts, the track provides a continuous 2m run of magnetic mounting surface. The 26mm projection from the ceiling keeps the profile low enough for typical 2.4m ceiling heights without dominating the visual field. Multiple 2m sections can be joined end-to-end using connector accessories to create longer runs across open-plan spaces.

The white powder-coated aluminium finish pairs with white or light-grey ceilings to minimise visual impact when the track runs across large expanses. The magnetic system holds spotlights securely during normal use but allows them to slide along the track when deliberately repositioned, so a retail display can be re-lit without re-wiring or a kitchen island can shift from ambient to task lighting by moving the same fittings. The track is rated IP20 for dry indoor use and carries a 5-year warranty.

What fittings does this track accept?

The Luxeon Slim uses a magnetic mounting system. Only magnetic spotlight fittings designed for this track type will attach securely — standard three-circuit track fittings are not compatible. Check product compatibility before purchasing spotlights.

Can the track be cut to a shorter length?

The track is supplied as a 2m section. While aluminium can be cut with appropriate tools, doing so may void the warranty and compromise the internal conductor alignment. For shorter runs, check if Ideal Lux offers 1m or 1.5m versions of this track.

Is it dimmable?

The track itself conducts power and is compatible with dimming systems when paired with dimmable magnetic spotlights and a compatible dimmer on the circuit. The track does not contain dimming electronics — dimming depends on the spotlight fittings and the upstream electrical installation.

How is it mounted to the ceiling?

The track surface-mounts using screws or fixings appropriate to the ceiling substrate (plasterboard, concrete, timber joists). Fixing points are typically spaced every 500-600mm along the track length. The electrical connection is made at one end, usually concealed by an end cap.
