Luminis Outdoor Bollard Light - Anthracite, 40cm

The Luminis is a 40cm outdoor bollard light built from die-cast aluminium with an anthracite powder-coated finish and a Pyrex glass diffuser. The cylindrical body houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately), with internal aluminium reflectors directing light downward and outward through the glass to illuminate pathways, driveways and borders. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for year-round outdoor installation in the UK.

Designed for pathway marking and low-level garden lighting, the 40cm height positions the light source at ankle-to-knee level, reducing glare for anyone walking past while casting enough light to define edges and steps. The 155mm diameter base is small enough to fit between border plants or along narrow pathways without blocking access. The 2150mm cable run allows the bollard to be positioned several metres from the nearest junction box or outdoor socket, and the E27 fitting accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving control over colour temperature and brightness.

The anthracite finish is a near-black grey that recedes visually in daylight, keeping the bollard unobtrusive during the day while the lit Pyrex diffuser becomes the focal point after dark. Die-cast aluminium gives the fitting a 2.8kg weight that resists movement in high winds, and the powder coat is baked onto the metal to resist UV fade and corrosion from rain and salt spray. The Pyrex diffuser is impact-resistant and can be removed for bulb changes without tools.

What bulb does the Luminis take?

The bollard takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting. The fitting is dimmable if paired with a dimmable bulb and compatible outdoor dimmer.

Can it be used in coastal areas?

Yes. The die-cast aluminium body is powder-coated to resist corrosion, and the IP65 rating protects the internal components from salt spray and rain. Regular rinsing with fresh water will help maintain the anthracite finish in high-salt environments.

How is it wired?

The 2150mm cable exits from the base of the bollard and runs underground to a junction box or outdoor socket. The cable must be protected in conduit if buried less than 450mm deep. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

What's the light spread?

The internal reflectors direct light downward and outward through the Pyrex diffuser, creating a circular pool of light approximately 2-3m in diameter on the ground. The 40cm height minimises upward light spill and glare, keeping the focus on ground-level illumination.
