Description
The Lofoten is a rectangular outdoor half lantern with a matt black powder-coated steel frame, three clear glass panels, and a single E27 lampholder mounted centrally on the back plate. The half-lantern design sits flat against the wall, with the glass box projecting 110mm from the mounting surface to house the bulb and protect it from the elements.
Designed for covered outdoor locations with an IP44 rating, the Lofoten suits porches, covered patios, carports, and entrance alcoves where light is needed but the fitting benefits from partial shelter overhead. The clear glass gives full visibility to the bulb inside, so pairing the lantern with a decorative filament LED or vintage-style bulb creates the classic lantern aesthetic. The 300mm height and 190mm width work on standard UK entrance door surrounds and porch walls without overwhelming the surface.
The electro-galvanised steel frame is powder-coated in matt black, giving corrosion resistance in typical UK outdoor conditions where the fitting is mounted under an overhang or porch roof. The clear safety glass panels are sealed into the frame with gaskets to meet the IP44 standard, protecting against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. The E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, sold separately.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm (dust and small debris) and water splashes from any direction. This rating is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, carports and entrance alcoves, but not for fully exposed positions without overhead shelter.
What bulb should I use?
The Lofoten takes a standard E27 screw-fit bulb up to 60W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to create the traditional lantern look through the clear glass.
Can it be used on a fully exposed wall?
The IP44 rating provides splash protection but the lantern performs best under partial shelter such as a porch roof or overhang. For fully exposed exterior walls without overhead cover, consider a fitting with an IP65 rating instead.
How is the lantern fitted to the wall?
The back plate mounts directly to the wall using screws through fixing holes in the plate. The cable enters through a knockout in the back plate and connects to the E27 lampholder inside the glass box. Full fitting instructions are included with the lantern.
