Lipari Surface Mounted Downlight 15cm - White & Gold

The Lipari is a 15cm surface-mounted downlight with a cylindrical matt white aluminium body and a gold-finished interior reflector. The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 12W (sold separately) and mounts directly onto the ceiling surface without requiring a recessed cavity, making it suitable for installations above concrete ceilings, steel beams, or low-depth ceiling voids where traditional recessed downlights cannot be fitted.

Designed for hallways, kitchens, bathrooms (IP20 rated for zones 3 and outside zones only), and commercial spaces, the Lipari provides focused downward light with the gold reflector amplifying output and adding warm tonal reflections to the beam. The oblique cut at the lower rim of the cylinder directs light at an angle rather than straight down, reducing harsh shadows directly beneath the fitting and creating a softer pool of light on the floor or worktop below.

The 6cm diameter and 15cm projection keep the fitting compact enough for corridors and small rooms without dominating the ceiling plane. The aluminium construction weighs less than ceramic or brass alternatives while offering better heat dissipation than plastic GU10 holders. The matt white finish on the exterior integrates cleanly with white ceilings and pairs with the gold interior to create a two-tone accent when viewed from certain angles.

The Lipari is part of Maytoni's surface-mounted downlight range and is also available in a taller 20cm version and alternative finish combinations. The GU10 base accepts standard mains-voltage LED, halogen or CFL bulbs, giving flexibility over colour temperature and beam angle depending on the application.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The Lipari carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is not protected against water ingress. It can only be used in bathroom zone 3 (more than 2.25m from a bath or shower) or outside bathroom zones entirely. For zones 1 and 2, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The fitting accepts a standard GU10 bulb up to 12W (sold separately). Most installations use a GU10 LED bulb between 4-7W with a beam angle of 38-60° depending on the desired spread and brightness.

What ceiling depth is needed for installation?

None. The Lipari is a surface-mounted fitting, meaning it sits on top of the ceiling surface rather than recessing into it. This makes it suitable for concrete ceilings, shallow ceiling voids, or installations where cutting a recess is not practical.

Why does the cylinder have an angled cut at the bottom?

The oblique cut directs light at an angle rather than straight down, softening the pool of light on the floor and reducing harsh shadows directly beneath the fitting. The angled gold reflector also becomes more visible from certain viewing angles, adding a decorative element to the otherwise minimal white cylinder.
