Description

The Ledbury is a 427mm outdoor wall lantern built from cast aluminium with a black powder-coated finish, clear glass panels on four sides, and a decorative acorn finial at the top. An E27 bulb fitting inside the glass enclosure accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), providing up-facing illumination through the domed glass top and side-facing light through the clear panels.

Rated IP44 for protection against splashing water from any direction, the Ledbury is suitable for external wall mounting on porches, front doors, side gates, garage entrances and courtyard walls where traditional lantern styling is preferred. The 220mm projection from the wall and 173mm width give the fitting visible presence on brick, render and painted masonry without overwhelming typical residential doorways. The Class 1 wiring requires earthing to the property's electrical system.

The cast aluminium construction provides corrosion resistance in UK coastal and urban environments, while the black powder-coat finish hides weathering better than lighter colours over multi-year exterior exposure. The ribbed detail band beneath the glass dome and turned post detail on the wall arm reference Georgian and Victorian street lantern design. What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. This makes the Ledbury suitable for covered and uncovered wall positions including porches, doorways and side walls exposed to rain. It is not submersible and should not be installed where it will be subject to direct hosing or power-washing.

What bulb should I use?

The E27 fitting accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for energy efficiency and long life outdoors. Bulbs are sold separately.

How is it mounted to the wall?

The lantern mounts via a backplate fixed to the wall with two screws (fixings not included — select appropriate fixings for your wall type). The Class 1 wiring requires connection to mains supply and earthing. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
