Description

The Kolne is a stainless steel outdoor wall light with a pagoda-style lantern head mounted on a horizontal bracket, built from Grade 304 marine-grade stainless steel and fitted with clear glass panels on four sides. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the glass, distributing light evenly in all horizontal directions while the overhanging roof directs light downward onto pathways and entrance areas.

Designed for exterior walls, porches, patios and garden entrances, the Kolne carries an IP44 rating making it resistant to rain and dust ingress. The Grade 304 steel specification suits coastal and exposed environments where lower-grade metals corrode rapidly. The stainless steel body is factory-lacquered to slow oxidation, though the finish may develop a natural patina over time if exposed to salt air or industrial atmospheres without periodic cleaning.

What bulb does it take?

The Kolne takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use most installers pair this with a warm-white LED bulb rated for exterior conditions, typically 6-10W and 2700K-3000K.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The Grade 304 stainless steel specification is marine-grade and resists corrosion in coastal environments better than standard mild steel or lower-grade stainless finishes. The lacquered finish provides additional protection but may develop a patina over time in salt air if not periodically wiped clean.

What does IP44 mean?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm (dust and small debris) and against water splashing from any direction. It is suitable for exposed outdoor walls but not for total submersion or high-pressure washing.

How is the stainless steel maintained?

Wipe the steel periodically with a damp cloth to remove salt deposits, dust and airborne pollutants. In coastal areas, wiping every 3-6 months slows patina development. Avoid abrasive cleaners or wire brushes which scratch the lacquered surface and accelerate oxidation.
