Description

The Knightsbridge 14W LED gear tray is a 246mm diameter retrofit module designed to replace traditional 2D 28W bulkhead lamp plates without changing the outer fixture. The tray carries 14W of SMD LEDs delivering 1480lm at 4000K cool white, powered by an integrated constant-current driver that runs on 230V mains. The entire module is 27mm deep and fits directly into compatible bulkhead housings.

Designed for commercial, industrial and residential retrofit projects, the gear tray allows existing bulkhead fittings to be converted from fluorescent 2D tubes to LED without removing wall or ceiling fixtures. The tray is compatible with Knightsbridge bulkhead models coded BT14, BF14, TPB14, TPB28 and TPR28. Installation involves removing the old lamp plate and driver from the bulkhead housing, connecting the new tray to the mains supply via a terminal block, and securing the tray inside the housing using the existing fixings.

The SMD LED array is mounted on a white CEM-1 substrate and rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning 70% of modules will still deliver at least 70% of initial light output after 60,000 hours of operation. The 115-degree beam angle provides wide even coverage suitable for circulation areas, storage rooms, stairwells and external bulkhead positions. The tray carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty and is Class II double-insulated, requiring no earth connection.

Which bulkhead models is this tray compatible with?

The tray fits Knightsbridge bulkhead fittings with model codes BT14, BF14, TPB14, TPB28 and TPR28. Always check the existing bulkhead's internal diameter and mounting points before ordering — the tray requires a 246mm clear diameter inside the housing.

Can this replace a 28W 2D fluorescent tube?

Yes. The 14W LED tray delivers 1480lm, which is comparable to a standard 28W 2D fluorescent tube. The retrofit reduces wattage by 50% while maintaining similar light output and eliminating the need for a separate ballast.

Is the tray dimmable?

No. The integrated constant-current driver operates at fixed output. The tray is designed for on/off switching only and is not compatible with dimmer circuits.

How is the tray installed?

Remove the old lamp plate and driver from the existing bulkhead housing. Connect the gear tray to the mains supply via the terminal block, secure the tray to the internal mounting points using the existing fixings, and replace the outer bulkhead diffuser. The tray is Class II double-insulated and does not require an earth connection.
