Description

The Klampenborg is an outdoor chain pendant light with a 300mm silver-finished canopy set above a clear glass bulb housing, suspended on a chain from a matching silver ceiling hook. The body is fabricated from 304-grade stainless steel with a silver powder-coated finish, and the fitting carries an IP44 ingress protection rating against rain and dust when installed under covered outdoor locations such as porches, verandas and pergolas.

Designed for outdoor areas with overhead shelter, the Klampenborg pairs industrial chain suspension with a nautical-style glass shade that protects a single E27 bulb while leaving it visible when lit. The wide canopy deflects rain and directs light downward onto seating areas, dining tables or entrance steps. The chain length is adjustable on installation to suit ceiling heights typically between 2.2m and 3m, with the pendant sitting 600-800mm below the canopy when fully extended.

The 304-grade stainless steel resists corrosion in coastal and damp environments better than mild steel or lower-grade stainless, making this fitting suitable for both inland and seaside outdoor installations provided the location remains sheltered from direct weather. The silver powder coating adds a second layer of protection over the stainless base and gives a soft metallic finish that reduces glare under daylight. The clear glass shade allows the full light output from the bulb to escape downward while creating a warm glow through the glass when viewed from the side.

The fitting accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, filament or halogen depending on the light temperature and brightness required. Elstead Lighting backs the Klampenborg with a 15-year guarantee covering material and manufacturing defects, subject to the product being installed and maintained per the included instructions.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain splashes and dust but not sustained water jets or full weather exposure. Install the Klampenborg under a covered porch, veranda, pergola or canopy where it is sheltered from direct rain and wind-driven water.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional industrial aesthetic.

Is the chain length adjustable?

Yes. The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links to suit the ceiling height and desired drop. The pendant typically hangs 600-800mm below the canopy when fully extended.

How is the stainless steel maintained?

Wipe the body and canopy with a damp cloth to remove dust and salt residue. In coastal locations, clean the fitting every 3-6 months to prevent salt build-up that can compromise the powder coating over time. Avoid abrasive cleaners or wire brushes that scratch the finish.
