Description
Sliding doors are the feature we keep coming back to on our Italic Oak Sideboard, and they change how the whole piece works in a room. Rather than swinging outwards into your walkway, both solid wood doors glide sideways along the front, so you can open one side without clearing space in front of it. Each door carries a diagonal grain that runs across the oak, giving the flat front a sense of movement while keeping everything fully enclosed. There is no glass on this configuration, just two clean panels that slide to reveal the storage behind. At 135cm wide and 73.4cm tall, it sits low and long, and we think it earns its place along a wall without crowding the space above it.
Inside, we have kept things practical. The internal shelf takes a maximum load of 15kg, while the top surface holds up to 50kg, with both figures assuming the weight is spread evenly across the surface rather than piled in one spot. That makes it a sensible home for tableware, books, records or anything you want tucked away but close to hand. It stands on four round legs, which lifts the body off the floor and keeps the lines simple. With a depth of just 48cm, it fits comfortably in a hallway, living room or dining space, and the 51kg weight gives it a reassuring steadiness once it is in position. Assembly takes us around 20 minutes.
The piece is made from solid oak, MDF, tempered glass and oak veneer, and this configuration wears an honest Wood finish that lets the natural oak grain do the talking. To care for it, we suggest wiping the surfaces with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh cleaners. Style it with a pair of low lamps and a shallow tray, and the diagonal grain will do the rest.
