Description
Made from solid oak, MDF, tempered glass and oak veneer, our Italic sideboard brings together warm wood and clear glass in a single low form. We chose Black Oak for this piece, its grain running on a diagonal across the solid wood sliding door, while the second sliding door is reeded glass. The result is a Wood/Glass front where half the interior shelf sits enclosed and half stays on show behind the ribbed glass, so you can keep everyday clutter tucked away and let favourite pieces catch the light.
The proportions suit a range of rooms without dominating them. It measures 135cm wide, 48cm deep and 73.4cm high, standing on four round legs that lift the body clear of the floor and keep the whole thing looking light despite its 51kg weight. The two sliding doors move across one another rather than swinging out, which we find useful in tighter spots where a hinged door would need room to open. Inside, a single shelf runs the length of the piece, giving you a place for glassware, linens or books, whichever half you choose to hide and which to reveal.
The top takes a load of 50kg when the weight is spread evenly across the surface, so it happily holds a table lamp base, a stack of records or a run of framed photographs. Each shelf inside is rated to 15kg on the same even-distribution basis. Assembly takes around 20 minutes, and we keep the instructions clear so you are not left guessing. The material is a mix of solid oak and oak veneer over MDF, paired with tempered glass for the reeded door, a combination we like for its balance of solidity and everyday practicality.
