Description
The Hydra is a 10.5cm diameter surface-mounted LED downlight with an integrated 10W 3000K module housed inside a black aluminium cylinder. The downlight projects 7cm from the ceiling and emits light through a 120° beam angle, making it suited to general area lighting rather than narrow accent spots. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathrooms and other damp locations where moisture is present but direct water jets are not expected.
Designed for rooms where recessed downlights are not feasible due to shallow ceiling voids or solid concrete construction, the Hydra mounts directly onto the ceiling surface with no cutting required. The 10.5cm footprint suits hallways, bathrooms, wardrobes, utility rooms and commercial corridors where ceiling-mounted lighting is needed without structural work. The 3000K colour temperature provides warm white light that sits between the yellower tone of traditional halogen and the cooler daylight whites.
The black aluminium body acts as the heatsink for the integrated LED, dissipating heat through the cylinder wall to maintain performance across the 5-year warranty period. The black finish absorbs into dark ceilings and provides contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings, depending on the aesthetic direction. The fixed fitting does not rotate or tilt once installed, so positioning during installation determines the final light spread.
The Hydra runs on standard 220-240V AC mains with no external transformer needed, simplifying the wiring run compared to low-voltage alternatives. The integrated LED cannot be replaced separately from the fitting, so when the module reaches end-of-life the entire fitting is replaced rather than just the lamp.

Frequently Asked
Can this be installed in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in Zone 2 and Zone 3 bathroom areas where splashing water is expected but direct water jets are not. It should not be installed directly above a shower head or bath where it would be subject to direct spray.
Does the LED module need a separate driver?
No. The Hydra runs on 220-240V AC mains and has an integrated driver inside the fitting. It connects directly to the mains circuit with no external transformer required.
Can the LED be replaced when it fails?
No. The LED module is integrated into the fitting and cannot be separately replaced. When the LED reaches end-of-life the entire fitting is replaced. The 5-year warranty covers LED failure during that period.
What ceiling depth is required?
The Hydra is surface-mounted, so it requires no ceiling void at all. It mounts directly onto a solid ceiling surface with fixings through the base of the aluminium cylinder, making it ideal for concrete ceilings or shallow voids where recessed downlights cannot be fitted.
