Description

The Hornsea is a 700mm outdoor bollard light built around a column of natural teak wood with 316 marine-grade stainless steel top and base fittings. The bollard houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 40W) inside a clear protective housing at the head, with the stainless steel cage structure allowing light to project downwards and outwards across pathways while the teak column remains unlit.

Designed for driveways, garden paths, patio edges and boundary lighting where weather resistance matters, the Hornsea carries an IP55 rating against dust and water jets from any direction. The 316-grade stainless steel resists corrosion in coastal and exposed environments better than standard 304 stainless, while the teak weathers naturally over time from its original warm brown tone to a silvered grey patina unless treated with teak oil.

The 120mm diameter keeps the bollard slim enough for pathway edges without taking up excessive ground space, and the 700mm height places the light head at knee-to-mid-thigh level, which provides ground illumination without glare at eye level. The teak grain varies between individual pieces depending on the section of timber used, so no two Hornsea bollards show identical figuring. The marine-grade construction is backed by a 10-year warranty.

The bollard takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting.

Yes. The 316 marine-grade stainless steel top and base fittings resist corrosion in coastal environments better than standard stainless steel. The teak is naturally weather-resistant and commonly used in marine applications.

How does the teak age over time?

Left untreated, the natural teak weathers from warm brown to a silvered grey patina over 12-18 months of outdoor exposure. To maintain the original brown tone, apply teak oil annually. The structural integrity of the timber is unaffected by the colour change.

How is the bollard installed?

The bollard requires a hard-wired mains connection and is typically mounted on a concrete base or sunk into a gravel pathway with a ground sleeve. The IP55 rating allows for exposed installation but the cable entry point must be sealed correctly during fitting.
