The Hollis is a 5-light semi-flush ceiling light with five opal etched glass globes suspended from a matt black geometric frame. Each globe sits within a black metal ring that holds it at the equator, leaving the top and bottom hemispheres exposed to diffuse light evenly in all directions. The frame consists of two intersecting beams that radiate from a central ceiling mount, creating an asymmetric layout across an 813mm span.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.7m where a full pendant would hang too low, the Hollis sits 305mm below the ceiling once fitted. The five E14 bulb positions provide distributed light across a 12-15m² room, making the fitting suitable for bathrooms, hallways, bedrooms and kitchens where even illumination matters more than a single central pendant. The IP44 rating confirms safe use in bathroom zones 2 and 3, meaning the fitting can be installed above a bath or shower where direct spray is unlikely.

The matt black finish on the metalwork absorbs rather than reflects surrounding light, giving the frame a recessive quality that emphasises the opal glass globes when lit. Each globe is hand-blown and etched on the interior surface, producing a soft diffusion that hides the bulb filament while maintaining enough clarity to show the bulb shape when unlit. What bulbs does the Hollis take?

Five E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. For bathroom use most installers pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to avoid glare from the opal glass.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating confirms safe installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, which means the fitting can be mounted above a bath or shower where direct water spray is unlikely. It cannot be installed in zone 1 (directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure) or zone 0 (inside the bath itself).

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 305mm below the ceiling once installed. In a room with a 2.4m ceiling height, the lowest point of the glass globes will sit at approximately 2.1m above floor level, which provides adequate head clearance in most domestic settings.

Is the frame adjustable or does it always sit asymmetrically?

The beam layout is fixed as shown. The two beams intersect at the central mount point and cannot be rotated or reconfigured during installation. The asymmetric arrangement is a design feature rather than an adjustable element.
