Description

The Holborn is a 310mm Georgian-style outdoor wall lantern built from solid brass with a brushed finish and clear glass panels on three sides. A single E14 candle bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass enclosure on a central brass holder, casting light through the clear panes while the brass frame itself remains visible. The lantern carries an IP44 rating for protection against water splashes and dust ingress, making it suitable for covered porches, front door surrounds and garden walls under eaves.

Designed for period properties, Georgian-style homes and traditional front elevations, the Holborn works as a porch light, entrance marker or path-side accent on low garden walls. The 110mm projection from the wall gives clearance for the bulb and reflector without dominating narrow door surrounds or pathways. The vertical slatted grille at the top provides ventilation to prevent heat build-up inside the enclosure while keeping the Georgian lantern aesthetic intact.

The brushed brass finish softens the metal's natural shine, giving a warmer tone than polished brass and developing a natural patina over time when exposed to outdoor conditions. The solid brass construction weighs approximately 1kg, giving the fitting a substantial presence that resists wind movement once mounted. The clear glass allows full light output from the bulb, with the brass frame casting defined shadow lines on the wall when lit at night.

The Holborn takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulb at 2700K for a traditional look with low running costs.

Is it suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes and dust, making it suitable for covered porches, door surrounds under eaves, and garden walls with overhead protection. It is not designed for fully exposed positions with direct rain or driving weather.

Will the brass tarnish over time?

Yes. The brushed brass finish will develop a natural patina when exposed to outdoor air and moisture. This is a characteristic of solid brass and many users prefer the aged look.
