Description

The Helsingor is an IP44-rated outdoor wall light built from 304 grade stainless steel with a silver powder-coated finish. The design features a central cylindrical housing containing the E27 bulb fitting, surrounded by a clear glass cylinder and topped with three tiered metal shades that direct light downwards and horizontally while shielding the bulb from direct view. The rounded backplate and horizontal arm mount the assembly 260mm from the wall.

Designed for coastal and exposed outdoor installations, the 304 grade stainless steel resists corrosion from salt air and persistent rain better than standard mild steel or aluminium fittings. The IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes from any direction, making the light suitable for positions under eaves, porch canopies, or on sheltered exterior walls where some weather exposure occurs. The three-tier shade arrangement creates layered pools of light on the wall below and to the sides, while the clear glass cylinder allows ambient spread without glare.

The fitting measures 236mm tall by 218mm wide, with the arm projecting 260mm from the wall to the outer edge of the shade. The silver powder coat provides additional corrosion protection over the stainless steel base and gives a neutral metallic finish that pairs with both contemporary and traditional facade materials including brick, render, timber cladding and stone. The light accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W — most installations use a warm-white LED between 6W and 10W for energy efficiency and longevity in an outdoor environment.

IP44 provides protection against water splashes from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes the Helsingor suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as under eaves, porch canopies or covered patios, but not for fully exposed locations subject to driving rain or submersion.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED between 6W and 10W (equivalent to 40-60W incandescent) at 2700K-3000K is recommended for energy efficiency and reduced bulb replacement frequency. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the stainless steel suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The 304 grade stainless steel construction is specifically chosen for its resistance to salt air and coastal corrosion. Regular rinsing with fresh water will extend the life of the powder coat finish in direct coastal exposure.

Can it be fitted to brick or render?

Yes. The circular backplate requires two fixing points and can be mounted to brick, render, timber cladding or stone using appropriate wall plugs and fixings for the substrate material. The 260mm projection means the light clears most wall-mounted downpipes and rainwater goods.
