Description
The Helsingor is an outdoor wall light built from 304-grade stainless steel with a black powder-coated finish, three tiered metal shades and a cylindrical clear glass lantern housing a single E27 bulb fitting. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for exterior walls, porches, courtyards and garden gates exposed to rain and coastal moisture.
Designed for wall mounting at entrance points, along pathways or beside garden seating areas, the Helsingor provides downward and radial light through the clear glass cylinder. The three horizontal shades prevent direct upward glare and shield the bulb from overhead rain while allowing light to spread outward in a 180-degree arc. The 260mm projection from the wall gives clearance for bulb replacement without removing the entire fitting.
The 304 stainless steel frame resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments better than mild steel alternatives, and the powder-coat finish adds a second barrier against salt spray and UV degradation. The black finish works across both traditional and contemporary exterior schemes, pairing cleanly with brick, render, timber cladding and painted masonry. At 236mm tall and 218mm wide, the lantern provides presence without dominating a standard door surround or gate pillar.
The fitting accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness. A warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits most residential exteriors for welcoming entrance lighting.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm (dust, insects) and water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for sheltered and exposed exterior walls, porches and garden structures that see rain but not direct water jets.
What bulb should I use?
The Helsingor takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for welcoming entrance lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.
Is the stainless steel rust-proof?
The 304-grade stainless steel frame offers high corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments. The black powder-coat finish adds a second protective layer against salt spray and UV exposure. While no metal is completely rust-proof in extreme conditions, 304 stainless significantly outperforms mild steel.
How is it wired?
The Helsingor requires mains 230V wiring from a wall-mounted junction box or direct feed from a switched circuit inside the building. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK wiring regulations.
