Description

The Helsingor is an outdoor wall light with a built-in PIR (passive infrared) sensor that detects movement within a 120° field and automatically switches the light on. The fitting is built from 304-grade stainless steel with a silver powder-coated finish and carries an IP44 rating for protection against dust and water ingress. An E27 bulb fitting sits inside a clear glass cylinder surrounded by three layered metal shades that direct light both downward and outward.

Designed for porch, patio and pathway mounting where security lighting is needed without running separate sensor wiring, the Helsingor combines decorative and functional roles. The PIR sensor can be adjusted for sensitivity and duration, allowing the light to stay on for a set period (typically 10 seconds to 5 minutes) after motion is detected. The 260mm projection and three-tier shade design give the fitting presence on a wall without overwhelming smaller doorways or garden walls.

The 304-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments better than standard 201 or 301 grades, and the silver powder coating adds a protective layer over the metal substrate. The IP44 rating confirms the fitting is suitable for exposed outdoor locations where rain or spray is expected but not full immersion. The E27 socket accepts any standard screw-base LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose light temperature and brightness to suit the application.

How does the PIR sensor work?

The PIR (passive infrared) sensor detects movement within a 120° field in front of the light. When motion is detected, the light switches on and stays on for a pre-set duration (adjustable, typically 10 seconds to 5 minutes). Sensitivity and duration settings are usually adjustable via controls on the back of the fitting or inside the sensor housing.

Can the PIR be disabled to use the light as a permanent fitting?

Some PIR models allow the sensor to be overridden or disabled, turning the light into a standard switched outdoor fitting. Check the fitting instructions or contact us to confirm whether the Helsingor supports this function.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 socket accepts any standard screw-base bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) between 6-10W provides sufficient light for security and pathway illumination while keeping energy consumption low. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The 304-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion better than standard grades and is designed for coastal and high-humidity environments. The silver powder coating adds an additional protective layer. Regular cleaning with fresh water helps maintain the finish in salt-spray conditions.
