Description

The Helsingor is a 1m outdoor bollard lantern built from 304-grade stainless steel with a silver powder coat finish and a tiered shade assembly that directs light downward and outward through frosted glass panels. The lantern head features a central E27 bulb fitting protected by an inner glass cylinder and surrounded by two horizontal shade tiers that prevent upward light spill while distributing light across pathways.

Designed for garden paths, driveway edges and patio perimeters, the Helsingor provides functional ground-level lighting without glare at eye level when walking past. The 1m height positions the light source above typical border plants and low hedging, and the 218mm-wide head gives directional coverage across a 2-3m path width depending on bulb choice. The IP44 rating protects against rain ingress and dust, making it suitable for year-round UK outdoor use including exposed coastal locations where salt air can degrade lower-grade metals.

The 304-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion without requiring ongoing treatment, and the powder coat finish provides additional UV and moisture resistance. The bollard mounts to a surface-fixed base plate and requires wiring via underground conduit or surface-mounted armoured cable, with the E27 socket accepting LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately). The frosted glass panels soften the bulb's direct output, reducing harsh shadows and creating a diffused pool of light at ground level.

What bulb does it take?

The Helsingor takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor path lighting most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K, which provides sufficient ground-level illumination without excessive brightness.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The 304-grade stainless steel construction and powder coat finish resist salt-air corrosion better than standard mild steel bollards. Elstead designed this range specifically for exposed coastal installations.

How is it installed?

The bollard mounts to a surface-fixed base plate using the fixing holes provided. Wiring must be run via underground conduit or surface-mounted armoured cable to meet UK outdoor electrical installation standards. Installation requires a qualified electrician.

Does it carry a warranty?

Yes. Elstead provides a 15-year manufacturer's warranty on the Helsingor range, covering material and construction defects. This does not cover damage from incorrect installation, accidental impact, or bulb failure.
