Description

The Helion is a 115cm LED picture light with a matt black powder-coated aluminium frame and an opal polycarbonate diffuser running the full length of the fitting. Two integrated LED modules totalling 20.5W output 3000K warm white light through the glossy opal surface, distributing even illumination across large canvases, feature walls or gallery-style displays up to 1.2m wide.

Designed for mounting above paintings, prints, mirrors or architectural features in living rooms, hallways, home galleries and commercial spaces, the Helion projects 40mm from the wall and sits close to the surface it illuminates. The fitting connects to standard UK wiring via a rear terminal block and is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only. The non-dimmable LED is factory-set at 3000K and cannot be adjusted or replaced by the user.

The matt black aluminium frame provides structural rigidity across the 115cm span without sagging, while the opal polycarbonate diffuser softens the LED output and eliminates visible hotspots. The combination of black metal and white opal creates a clean two-tone appearance that recedes visually behind the illuminated artwork. The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white spectrum, minimising colour distortion on oil paintings and prints with warmer palettes.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Helion in Italy and covers it with a 5-year warranty. The fitting weighs approximately 1.2kg and requires a fixing that can support this weight plus the mass of the artwork below if wall-mounted directly above a frame.

Is the Helion dimmable?

No. The integrated LED is non-dimmable and outputs a fixed 20.5W at 3000K. Pairing this with a dimmer switch is not recommended and may cause flickering or failure.

What size artwork does it suit?

The 115cm length provides even illumination across canvases, prints or mirrors up to approximately 1.2m wide. For narrower artworks the fitting may extend beyond the frame edges, which can either be a design feature or a reason to choose a shorter picture light.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating permits use only in dry indoor spaces. Bathrooms, kitchens with steam, and outdoor applications require higher IP-rated fittings.
