Halmstad 1 Light Large Wooden Bollard - Black

The Halmstad is an 850mm wooden bollard light combining a treated pine column with black powder-coated steel top and base sections. An E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) sits inside a horizontal-louvre steel cage at the top, behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser that spreads light outward and downward. The IP65 rating protects internal components from dust and water jets, making the fitting suitable for exposed coastal locations, driveways and garden pathways.

Designed for driveways, pathway edges, garden borders and patio perimeters, the Halmstad provides low-level wayfinding light without the glare of taller post lights. The 850mm height sits below eye level for most adults, keeping the light source itself out of direct view when walking past. The 120mm-square footprint fits into narrow planting beds or along gravel path edges where wider bollards would obstruct movement. The fitting mounts onto a ground spike or concrete base depending on ground type and soil stability.

The treated pine column is coated to resist moisture ingress and UV degradation but will still weather over time depending on sun exposure and rainfall levels. In sheltered locations the wood retains its medium-brown tone for 2-3 years before silvering; in full coastal exposure or south-facing positions the silvering happens sooner. The black powder-coated steel top and base sections resist corrosion but may show patina in high-salt coastal air after 12-18 months of exposure. The horizontal steel louvres around the lamp housing direct light horizontally while shielding the bulb from direct overhead view.

The opal diffuser softens the light output, turning a single bare bulb into a softer wash across a 2-3m radius depending on bulb wattage and colour temperature chosen. Most users pair the Halmstad with a warm-white 6-10W LED E27 at 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting or a cooler 4000K daylight LED for security-focused illumination.

What bulb does it take?

How is it mounted?

Will the wood change colour over time?

Yes. The treated pine is coated to resist moisture and UV damage but will still weather naturally. In sheltered locations the medium-brown tone lasts 2-3 years before silvering. In full sun or coastal exposure the silvering happens sooner. This is normal weathering, not a defect.
