Description

The Gruissan is a 12.3cm cone pendant light with a matt black exterior and matt white inner lining, housing an integrated 5W LED producing 350 lumens at 3000K. The conical shade is constructed from metal with a narrow 20° beam angle that directs light downwards in a focused column, making this a task-oriented pendant rather than ambient lighting.

Designed for installation above kitchen islands, breakfast bars, desks and side tables, the Gruissan works as a single pendant or in linear runs of two, three or more to provide directed task light across a work surface. The adjustable drop between 700mm and 1300mm allows the pendant to be set at the appropriate height for the space, typically 700-800mm above a worktop or 600-700mm above a dining table. The 12.3cm diameter gives a compact footprint that suits narrower surfaces and tighter clusters.

The matt black exterior absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping visual focus on the lit surface below. The white inner lining reflects the LED output downwards and outwards, preventing direct glare while maximising the usable light within the cone. At 0.6kg the pendant is light enough to be installed on standard pendant cable without additional ceiling support, and the integrated LED removes the need for separate bulb purchase or replacement over the 3-year warranty period.

The Gruissan is made in Spain. The integrated LED is non-dimmable and non-replaceable. When the LED reaches end-of-life the entire fitting is replaced. The 5W power draw is equivalent to approximately 40-50W of incandescent output, providing functional task light rather than high-lumen ambient wash.

No. The integrated LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. The light operates at a fixed 5W output producing 350 lumens.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 700mm to 1300mm. For installation above a kitchen worktop or island, the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings require shortening the cable during installation.

Can the LED bulb be replaced?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. When the LED reaches end-of-life (typically after several years of daily use), the entire pendant is replaced. The fitting carries a 3-year warranty.

How many pendants are needed to light a kitchen island?

The 20° beam angle and 350lm output provide focused task light rather than broad ambient coverage. For a typical 1.8-2m kitchen island, two or three Gruissan pendants spaced evenly provide adequate task lighting. Larger islands or surfaces requiring higher light levels may need additional pendants or supplementary lighting.
