Description

The Gioia is an 8cm diameter cylindrical pendant light with a gold-plated blown glass shade suspended from a polished gold metal canopy on a black fabric cable. The glass cylinder houses a single E14 bulb (sold separately) and is open at both ends, allowing light to escape upward and downward in bi-directional flux rather than being fully enclosed.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands, hallway runs and entryway clusters, the Gioia works as a single pendant or in multiples spaced 400-600mm apart along a linear surface. The adjustable drop runs from 100cm to 178cm on installation, accommodating ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3m. The narrow 8cm profile suits lower ceilings where wider pendants would dominate, and the bi-directional light pattern means the fitting casts both task light downward and ambient wash light onto the ceiling above.

The gold plating on the blown glass gives the shade a warm metallic sheen that intensifies when the bulb is lit, turning the glass itself into a glowing column rather than a clear diffuser. The pendant takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED candle or golf ball bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to match the gold finish.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Gioia is suitable for dry indoor locations only and should not be installed in bathrooms, kitchens above hobs, or any area where moisture or steam is present.

How is the drop height adjusted?

The black fabric cable runs through the ceiling canopy and can be shortened during installation by looping excess cable inside the ceiling void. The minimum drop of 100cm and maximum of 178cm allow the pendant to be positioned between 600-900mm above a dining table or kitchen island depending on ceiling height.

Does the glass shade remove for cleaning?

Yes. The cylindrical glass shade lifts off the metal cord grip once the bulb is removed, allowing the glass to be cleaned separately with a soft dry cloth or glass cleaner. Ensure power is switched off before handling.
