Description

The Gilbert is an 8-light semi-flush ceiling light built around a matt black tubular steel frame with eight angular arms extending from a central ceiling plate. Each arm bends at right angles, creating a geometric, asymmetric spread across an 87cm width and 59cm depth. Each arm terminates in an exposed E27 bulb fitting, allowing the bulb itself to become part of the visual composition.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.7m, the Gilbert sits just 22.7cm below the ceiling when installed, making it suitable for open-plan living spaces, dining rooms above large tables, and loft conversions where a full-drop pendant would hang too low. The angular arm arrangement spreads the light across a wide area without needing multiple separate fittings, covering typical 4m x 5m rooms with even distribution when paired with appropriate bulbs.

The matt black powder-coated steel frame absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping visual attention on the bulbs themselves rather than the metallic structure. The exposed bulb design works with vintage filament Edison bulbs (ST64 or G95 shapes), clear LED filament bulbs, or standard opal E27 bulbs depending on the lighting effect required. Each fitting takes up to 60W, though most installations use 6-8W LED bulbs to achieve 400-600 lumens per arm.
