Description

The Gerhard is a 40cm diameter dome pendant light built from black-finished metal with an integrated 26W 3000K LED inside. A white matte acrylic diffuser sits underneath the dome, converting the downlight into even, glare-free ambient light across the full 40cm aperture. The metal dome has a textured shagreen surface that resists fingerprints and visible dust accumulation better than smooth gloss finishes.

Designed for kitchens, dining tables and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 5m, the Gerhard hangs on an adjustable cable that allows the pendant to be set anywhere from 57cm to 347cm below the ceiling rose. At minimum drop the fitting sits close to the ceiling for lower rooms; at maximum drop it can descend over a dining table in a double-height space or above a kitchen island in a room with exposed rafters. The 3000K colour temperature produces warm white light that pairs well with both neutral and warm-toned interiors.

The black metal construction and minimalist form give the Gerhard a functional, industrial-influenced aesthetic without heavy detailing. The dome diameter of 40cm positions it between smaller task pendants and larger statement pieces, making it suitable as a single fitting over a 4-seater dining table or as one of a pair over a longer kitchen island. Is the Gerhard dimmable?

The integrated 26W LED is rated for 230V mains. Dimmer compatibility depends on the dimmer model. Please contact us before pairing with a dimmer switch to confirm compatibility with your specific installation.

What ceiling height does it need?

The adjustable cable allows the pendant to hang anywhere from 57cm to 347cm below the ceiling rose. For a dining table the typical hang height is 70-80cm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Higher ceilings can use the extended drop to lower the pendant further into the space.

What size table does the 40cm diameter suit?

A single 40cm pendant works over a 4-seater dining table (approximately 120cm long). For longer tables or kitchen islands of 180cm or more, two Gerhard pendants spaced evenly provide better coverage than a single fitting.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Gerhard is rated for dry indoor spaces only and does not carry the IP44 or IP65 rating required for bathroom zones or outdoor installation.
