Fluxen Outdoor Bollard Light - Grey IP55

The Fluxen is a 450mm outdoor bollard light finished in grey with a square aluminium and resin body and a frosted polycarbonate diffuser at the head. The light takes a single GX53 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP55 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction.

Designed for garden pathways, driveway edges, patio perimeters and lawn borders, the Fluxen provides low-level path marking and ambient ground illumination rather than high-output floodlighting. The 175mm square footprint with a base plate allows the bollard to be surface-mounted onto concrete, paving slabs or timber decking using fixings appropriate to the substrate. The GX53 lamp socket accepts dimmable bulbs when paired with compatible outdoor dimmers.

The aluminium frame resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments, while the resin elements reduce weight and thermal conductivity compared to all-metal construction. The grey finish sits neutrally in most garden schemes without reflecting harsh light back into the space. The frosted diffuser spreads light in a 360-degree pattern around the bollard rather than directing it in a single beam, making the Fluxen more suitable for ambient pathway lighting than focused spot illumination.

What does the IP55 rating mean?

IP55 provides protection against dust ingress (the first 5) and low-pressure water jets from any direction (the second 5). This makes the Fluxen suitable for uncovered outdoor installation in UK weather, including rain and garden hose spray, but not for submersion or high-pressure jet washing.

What bulb does it take?

The Fluxen takes a GX53 bulb, which is a flat disc-shaped lamp with two pins on a bayonet-style fitting. GX53 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GX53 between 7-11W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting.

How is it mounted?

The bollard has a 175mm square base plate with fixing holes for surface mounting onto concrete, paving, or decking. The electrical cable enters through the base and must be protected in conduit or buried armoured cable depending on the installation surface and local wiring regulations.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, if paired with a dimmable GX53 bulb and a compatible outdoor dimmer. The bollard itself does not include dimming controls — dimming must be controlled at the mains switch or via a separate outdoor-rated dimmer module.
