Description

At 45.3cm in diameter, our Faraday Up Ceiling/Wall Light makes a generous circle of light without demanding much depth, sitting just 17.6cm from the surface it is fixed to. That balance matters when you want presence overhead or on a wall but cannot spare the projection of a bulkier fitting. Weighing only 2kg, it is a manageable piece to position, and its surface mounted design means we have kept the profile close and tidy against the plaster.

The form is what gives this wall light its character. A circular screen of fine metal mesh surrounds an opal glass globe at its centre, so the light is softened and gently diffused rather than shut behind a solid shade. Finished in Steel, the mesh reads as a cool, quiet grey that suits both modern and more pared back rooms, and the matt tone keeps glare down. It is made from steel and glass, a pairing we like for the way the crisp mesh frames the warmth of the illuminated globe. Because it mounts to either the ceiling or the wall, you can use it above a dining table, along a hallway or beside a reading nook, wherever you need a steady wash of light.

Fitting it is straightforward, with assembly taking around 10 minutes, so you are not left wrestling with a complicated bracket. It takes a single E27 bulb up to a maximum of 15W LED, which we have left out so you can choose the colour temperature that works for the space, whether that is a warmer 2700K glow or something brighter. We would suggest a globe or opal bulb to match the central diffuser. Compact, well made and easy to live with, it is a piece we are happy to keep in our range for anyone wanting soft, adaptable light.
