Exility 1m Recessed Magnetic Track for 12.5mm Plasterboard - White

The Exility is a 1m recessed magnetic track designed to sit flush within 12.5mm plasterboard ceilings, creating an unbroken plaster finish with only a narrow slot visible once installed. The track accepts 48V DC magnetic lighting fixtures that clip directly into the aluminium channel without visible wiring or fixing points. The white powder-coated aluminium rail measures 70mm wide by 46mm deep and runs electrical conductors along its length to power multiple fixtures from a single driver connection.

Designed for residential living rooms, kitchens, hallways and commercial retail or office spaces where ceiling-mounted track lighting is needed without surface-mounted rails, the Exility integrates into new-build plasterboard construction or ceiling refurbishment projects. The track is cut into the plasterboard before skimming, leaving a recessed slot that the magnetic fixtures lock into. Fixtures can be repositioned along the track length at any point, allowing lighting layouts to change without rewiring. The 48V DC supply requires a separate driver unit (sold separately) connected to mains supply.

The aluminium construction provides structural rigidity to prevent the track sagging when multiple fixtures are fitted, while the white finish matches standard white plasterboard and ceiling paint, making the track visually recede when fixtures are removed. The 100cm length can be joined end-to-end with connector pieces (sold separately) to create continuous runs across larger ceiling spans. Each 1m section weighs approximately 850g once installed with plasterboard and skim, so ceiling joists or noggins may be needed depending on the number of fixtures attached.

What fixtures are compatible with this track?

The Exility track accepts Maytoni's 48V DC magnetic fixtures from the Exility range, including adjustable spotlights, fixed downlights, pendant adaptors and linear LED modules. Fixtures clip magnetically into the slot and can be repositioned along the track without tools.

How is the track installed in plasterboard?

The track is recessed into a cut slot in 12.5mm plasterboard before the ceiling is skimmed. The plasterboard is cut to accept the 70mm x 46mm track profile, the track is fixed to ceiling joists or noggins, then the plasterboard is skimmed around it leaving only the narrow slot visible. Installation requires basic carpentry and plastering skills.

What driver is needed for the 48V supply?

A separate 48V DC LED driver is required to power the track and must be sized to match the total wattage of all fixtures fitted. The driver connects to 230V mains supply and outputs 48V DC to the track. Drivers are sold separately and should be specified based on the number and type of fixtures planned.

Can multiple tracks be joined together?

Yes. Multiple 1m sections can be connected end-to-end using Maytoni connector pieces (sold separately) to create continuous runs across larger ceiling areas. Electrical continuity is maintained through the connectors, allowing a single driver to power the entire run.
