Description

The ESP Beacon is a three-module accessible toilet alarm kit designed to meet Part M building regulations and BS8300 accessibility standards. The system comprises an indication module mounted outside the cubicle, a pull cord module inside the toilet, and a reset module to cancel the alarm once assistance has been provided. Each module mounts on a standard single-gang back box and connects via low-voltage wiring concealed in the wall.

Designed for commercial, public and care-home toilet facilities, the kit provides a visual and audible alert when the pull cord is activated by a person requiring assistance. The indication module outside the door illuminates a red LED and sounds an alarm tone, signalling to staff or visitors that help is needed. The reset module, mounted inside the toilet at accessible height, allows the user or carer to cancel the alarm once assistance has been provided. A battery backup function maintains operation during mains power loss, ensuring the alarm remains functional during electrical faults.

The white antimicrobial finish on all three modules helps reduce bacterial surface growth in high-use environments. The compact design fits flush with wall surfaces and the kit includes a disabled persons signage plate for the door. The system is expandable to support additional indication or pull cord modules where a single toilet facility needs multiple alarm points or where several toilet cubicles share a central monitoring location.

Frequently Asked

What wiring is required between the modules?

The three modules connect via low-voltage wiring run behind the wall between the single-gang back boxes. Full wiring diagrams and cable specifications are provided in the installation manual included with the kit.

Does the battery backup need replacing?

Yes. A backup battery is included with the kit and maintains alarm function during mains power loss. Battery life depends on usage frequency but typically requires replacement every 2-3 years. Replacement batteries are available separately.

Can additional pull cords be added to the same system?

Yes. The system is expandable and supports multiple pull cord modules and indication modules, allowing larger facilities to run several toilet alarm points from a central monitoring location or to add redundant pull cords within a single cubicle.

Does the kit meet current accessibility regulations?

Yes. The ESP Beacon complies with Part M of the Building Regulations and BS8300 accessibility standards, making it suitable for new-build and refurbishment projects requiring compliant accessible toilet facilities.
