Description

The Eris is a 30W constant current LED driver with 1-10V analogue dimming control, housed in a white plastic enclosure measuring 167mm long by 41mm deep. Constant current drivers regulate output current rather than voltage, making them suitable for LED fixtures where the forward voltage varies with temperature or load but a stable current is needed to maintain consistent brightness and lifespan.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installations where dimmable LED lighting is specified, the driver fits into ceiling voids, false ceilings and service cavities behind lighting fixtures. The 167mm length and 41mm depth allow it to fit into standard ceiling depths of 100mm or greater without compression. The 1-10V dimming protocol is controlled by a separate 1-10V dimmer switch wired between the mains supply and the driver's control input terminals, giving flicker-free dimming down to approximately 10% output.

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only — bathrooms, kitchens and outdoor applications require IP44 or higher. The white plastic housing includes cable entry knockouts at each end and screw-fix mounting holes for direct fixing to joists or false ceiling supports. Ideal Lux covers the driver with a 5-year warranty, reflecting the expected operating life when installed within rated parameters.

Frequently Asked

What is constant current and when is it needed?

Constant current drivers regulate output current (measured in milliamps) rather than voltage. They are required for LED fixtures where the LEDs are wired in series and the forward voltage varies with temperature. Most mid-to-high power LED downlights, panels and strips specify constant current drive.

What dimmer switch does it work with?

The Eris requires a separate 1-10V analogue dimmer switch. Standard mains dimmers (phase-cut, trailing-edge) are not compatible. 1-10V dimmers are widely available from lighting control manufacturers and send a low-voltage control signal to the driver's dimming input terminals.

Can it be used in bathrooms or kitchens?

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms (zones 1-3) and kitchens where steam or splashing may occur, an IP44 or IP65 rated driver is required. Check your fixture specification for the minimum IP rating needed.

What's the maximum LED fixture load?

The driver is rated at 30W output. The connected LED fixture(s) must not exceed 30W combined load. If the load is significantly lower (e.g. 10W) the driver may still operate but efficiency and dimming range can be reduced. Match the driver wattage as closely as possible to the fixture load for best performance.

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund.
