Description

The Eris is a 10W constant current LED driver with 1-10V analogue dimming protocol, housed in a 135mm white plastic casing rated IP20. It converts mains voltage to a stable DC current output, typically 350mA at 28-30V DC, allowing it to power single LED modules or strings of low-wattage LED chips that require constant current rather than constant voltage.

Designed for installation behind LED downlights, panel lights, strip lighting and architectural LED fixtures in residential and commercial interiors, the driver's compact 135mm x 30mm footprint fits into ceiling voids and back boxes with restricted depth. The 1-10V dimming protocol requires a separate 1-10V controller or compatible wall dimmer to adjust brightness from 10-100%, reducing LED current proportionally to dim the connected light source without flicker.

The white ABS casing includes captive screw terminals for mains input, DC output and the separate 1-10V control wire pair, allowing secure connection without soldering. The driver operates on 220-240V AC mains and includes short-circuit, overload and thermal protection to prevent damage if the output is inadvertently shorted or if connected LEDs draw excessive current. The IP20 rating requires the driver to be installed in dry indoor locations away from direct water contact.

Frequently Asked

What dimming protocol does this driver use?

The Eris uses 1-10V analogue dimming, which requires a separate 1-10V controller or compatible wall dimmer connected to the control wire terminals. The driver will not dim via mains phase-cut dimmers.

What LED modules can this driver power?

It powers constant current LED modules rated at 350mA, typically between 28-30V DC forward voltage, totalling up to 10W. Check the LED module's current rating before connecting to ensure compatibility.

Can it be installed in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it must be installed in a dry location outside bathroom zones 0, 1 and 2. It can be installed in a ceiling void above a bathroom provided the void itself is dry and well-ventilated.

What happens if the output is shorted?

The driver includes short-circuit protection which cuts power to the output if a short is detected, preventing damage to the driver. The connection must be corrected and the driver reset by cycling mains power.
